The Seasons Intergenerational Mentoring Project pairs seniors with youth in one-to-one mentoring relationships. The “best practices” of mentoring include making matches based on social histories and then providing on-going monitoring and support for the matches. In addition to the benefits provided by mentoring to both the youth and seniors, the Seasons Project provides training opportunities for students at George Mason University in performing the social histories and monitoring matches. |

Because senior adults expressed a desire for flexibility when volunteering, three program options are offered: community-based mentoring, school-based mentoring, and bi-monthly groups of one-to-one mentoring pairs at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community. |
