KIDsafe Virginia

Welcome to the KIDsafe Virginia site. Conceived by former Governor Mark Warner, the KIDsafe Virginia initiative was developed to provide numerous personal safety resources to students, parents, educators and public safety professionals across the Commonwealth. These resources gave young people and adults the tools they need to prevent or respond to dangerous situations that confront too many of our children.

Personal Safety Lessons

For students, in kindergarten through 4th grade, lessons will raise awareness and develop skills to help children stay safe. Designed to be taught by law enforcement professionals, lessons also may be used by educators. Lessons are developmentally appropriate, use interactive learning and are keyed to Virginia's Standards of Learning. These lessons will be mailed to K-12 school administrators as a component of the KIDsafe Virginia School Safety Toolkit. In addition, copies of these lessons will also be mailed to over 500 School Resource Officers, Chiefs and Sheriffs across the Commonwealth.

Crime Prevention Lessons

Lessons on crime prevention for high school students will be offered to school resource officers as part of their law-related education activities. Lessons focus on teen issues, involve interactive learning and are keyed to Virginia's Standards of Learning.
